Equally praised for his flamboyant personality as for his versatile and prolific artistic career, Harold Town remains a remarkable figure in the history of twentieth-century Canadian art. 

Often referred to as the “Picasso of Canada,” he gained international recognition during the 1950s and was a founding member of the Abstract Expressionist group, Painters Eleven (1953-1960). A 60-panel abstract work on brass, Untitled was commissioned in the 1960s by Toronto Pearson for the Aeroquay Lounge in the now demolished Terminal 1. It was later reinstalled in 2006 in the new terminal.
