Known for her extraordinary ability to capture her subject’s posture, form and movement, Gwynn Murril’s sculptures are inspired by the animal world.
She masterfully sets a stage in which the sculptures prompt viewers to address the relationship between people and wild animals, as well as the human attempt to control their force. Designed for interaction, the installation of Tiger #3 and Tiger #5 embodies the restrained power and dignity of trained wild cats amongst humans. The animals’ noble forms and elegant lines invite contact while their fierce presence remind the viewer to be cautious.
