Program gives parents a fun, at-home education project for kids grade three to eight

May 5, 2020

TORONTO, ONTARIO – Toronto Pearson is looking to give parents a hand in keeping their kids busy, while also teaching them about the airport. The Pearson Airport Explorer’s Club is a new, online learning program that tackles topics such as how to tell 24-hour time, the special airport codes used by pilots and air traffic controllers, how bags get from a ticket counter to the belly of an airplane and more!

The program is made up of different modules that are appropriate for kids in grades three to eight. New activities will pop up every week, each focused on a different airport topic.

“Toronto Pearson is a part of the communities it serves, and our commitment to engaging with our neighbours has never been stronger,” says Robyn Connelly, Director of Community Relations for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority. “The airport is a fascinating place, and the Pearson Airport Explorers Club is a fun way for kids to learn about Pearson and keep busy while they stay home.”

The Pearson Airport Explorer’s Club was developed by Pearson’s Community Relations team together with MASS LPB as a way to stay connected to the community during these unprecedented times of social and physical distancing. It’s a way to provide students impacted by school closures due to COVID-19 with fun, educational content about the wonderful world of aviation.

Examples of learning topics:

  • Deicing planes
  • Airport firefighters
  • Security dogs
  • Other airports around the world
