Building better transit
Toronto Pearson is the first impression of our country for arriving investors, tourists, students – shaping their decision to do business, visit, study, or even live here. By expanding transportation options to the airport, we can make it easier for residents to travel smoothly between transit systems to access jobs, education and services. We can also reduce congestion, allowing for better movement of goods on our roads and less pollution in our air.
Pearson Economic Zone
Did you know the area surrounding Toronto Pearson is the 2nd largest employment area in all of Canada?Even so – transit connectivity to jobs in these areas is severely lacking.Improving transit connectivity to this crucial economic area will help employers attract and retain talent to compete globally. |
The opportunity at Pearson
Situated between three municipally operated bus services, with a GO Train corridor nearby and multiple planned or existing transit lines in close proximity, Toronto Pearson offers a unique opportunity to connect transit systems into one network.
While some transit connections could take years to study, plan and build, there’s work happening now to improve transit connectivity in the airport area. Visit Our Progress page for the latest updates.
In 2021, the Ontario Real Estate Association named Toronto Pearson’s vision for transit the #1 piece of transformational infrastructure in Ontario, with the potential to reshape the region. It was a striking endorsement of the need for better public transit within the region, particularly transit that creates powerful networks to connect key employment and residential areas.
